A military wives tears

Tears fill our eyes as we watch them leave
A few more weeks, months, or years
We cry as we open a long awaited letter stating that they are well
We shed our tears and heave a sigh when we want to share a moment
Or a place with a man who is to far away to even know we are
Tears fill our eyes for our children's first word that they are missing, or
their first steps.
We sit up straight out of a dead sleep and cry for the nightmare that woke
The fear that they may not return
We cry out of frustration for what they can not help with
For what we are all so tired of doing alone
Sometimes we cry for no apparent reason
When the sunsets and we sleep once again alone
And lastly we cry for their return
But we cry different tears; tears of relieve, of joy.
A military wife sheds more tears, for more reasons over the course of a few

weeks, A few months, and sometimes even a few years,
Than any other woman could possibly understand.
We are few, and at times we all wonder what we are crying for.
We cry for so many things that it's hard to keep track.
But in the end we cry for ourselves, our families, our nation and our
husbands who are fighting to protect it all.
