What a difference a tragedy makes,
when with it, so many lives it takes,
not just the ones who died that day,
but the families and friends of those taken away,
a grandpa who always made them smile,
a mother who always tucked in her child,
a son who always wanted to strive,
and those brave heroes who risked their lives,
we drown in tears, and cry in pain,
but we have something the cowards won't gain,
we have our dignity, and we have our pride,
unlike them, we wont run and hide,
we stand our ground, proud and firm,
while all they can do now is squirm,
even though the pain lingers on,
and important people and buildings are gone,
we're still united, and we're still so true,
we're still the great red, white, and blue.
