My Own Marine

 My Own Marine

I’ve been around this world and back
Though all of it I’ve seen
The strongest, toughest, proudest man
Is still my own Marine.
A heart of stone when called to war
Yet loves me like no one before.
He’s caring, gentle, sweet and kind
This fearless fighting man of mine.
A spirited warrior till the end
Honor, courage he does defend.
When called to duty, head held high
Can’t let him see the tears I cry.
I’m strong but still not strong as he
I’d rather keep him safe with me.
But when this country comes to call
He’ll go to war and guard us all.
So to this world I lend you now
As long as you can truly vow
That to my arms he will return
And that his flame will always burn.
I’ll let him go and smile with pride
Although I want to die inside.
So bring him back to me I pray
As time goes by so slow today.
But if in war this time he’ll fall
Just know for us he gave his all.
We’re free today because of this
Of pride and honor just like his.
Though right at home or miles away
My love grows stronger every day.
No matter what may lie between
My heart belongs to this Marine.
And as the years go passing by
In all the world there is no guy
As strong and proud and true as he
Thank God for him, my own Marine!
