Dear God...

 Dear God...

I would like to dedicate this poem to my fiance, Christopher Richars. I wrote
it for him on September 11, 2001 when he was deployed. My uncles, cousins, and
friends also serve in the U.S. Military. I love you, Chris, I'm proud of you,
and God Bless America!

Dear God
Dear God, please send my sailor home.
He should be here with me.
Instead, he's been called out
To protect our surrounding seas.
As he protects our stars and stripes,
At home I wait and plea

That the waters surrounding our nation

Will send my sailor home to me.

As our country watches with anger

And we're struck with infamy,

My sailor's been deployed

To prevent another tragedy.

As our courageous men and women fight

To ensure that we are free,

I'm begging, God, send my family home,

And return my sailor to me.

As we're brought to the brink of war

And the innocent stand idly by,

I'm begging you, Dear God,

Don't let my sailor die.
