Cold Rain

 Cold Rain

I can here the gentle tapping of the cold rain
as it steadily collides against my window
bringing back memories of joy, and some of pain
leaving me trapped in my thoughts, with no where to go
I remember the cold spring night when I met you
out of no where you appeared storming into my existence
not knowing just exactly what I was getting into
the world you left behind for me hasn't been the same since
We talked for hours, moon and stars sailing across the sky
we were like old friends, our souls re-uniting once more
before I knew it, I heard the early mornings first bird cry
thinking back on that first night, still leaves my heart sore
the nights that followed, were blissful and truly sweet
We talked of love and war, of the future and our past
I would count down the hours, till again we would meet
just the thought of talking to you, made my heart beat fast
but our time was short, fate would have it no other way
You left to save the world that you had just opened me to
I wanted to tell you how I felt, how I wanted you to stay
but my stubborn side wouldn't let my feelings come through
Even though I've tried so hard to put you in the past
I can't help but wonder what you're doing, where you are
wishing the time we spent together would forever last
But I now sadly relize that you are like a shooting star
So I walk to the window, and stare into the pouring rain
I close my eyes, make a wish, and blow a kiss into the night
I pause a second, letting the nights cool embrace dull my pain
then I close my windows, knowing that everything will be all right
