THE PIER

 THE PIER

i love this website, it has brought me much support. I would love to see my
poem on your site. I would also like to dedicate this poem to ET3 Mike
Haigwood, my sailor, my hero, my love. I would also like to send out hugs to
all the military wives and significant others. May God Bless Us All.- cat
THE PIER
I promised you I would not cry
But it was all to much when I had to say Goodbye

So i chocked my tears and forced a smile
I watched you walk that pier, that first mile

A mile that led to the sea
A sea that was taking you away from me

I could no longer hold back, my tears i could no longer hide
My heart overflowed, it felt like i died

I looked around and saw silent tears falling, as your boat

floated away
All of us praying you would return in a safe way

You are our sailors, our men, our heart
We think of you and long for you every moment we are apart

When the ship was no longer in sight
We all stood there silent, sharing the fright

Afraid of what the next months would bring
But we stood proud, we stood tall
ignoring that lonely sting

We are Navy in every rite
We are Navy in every fight
We love our Navy, your Navy

Even when this Navy takes you to sea
Even when this Navy takes you away from me.
