And So I Wait

And So I Wait

The night grows cold and lonely,
hours are years without you near,
and I can hear the ticking clock,
out of the shadows, all of my fears,
I keep on falling faster, harder,
crashing on the floor,
but I must get up, brush myself off,
and take a little more,
And the thing that keeps me going,
the thought that gets me through,
Is that at the end of all of this,
Someday I will be with you,
And so I wait another day,
and check another box,
on the countdown to god-knows-when,
the thought of which I must block,
So forgive me when Im edgy,
and when I've got the blues,
cause everyday "and so I wait"
I'm waiting here for you
