Absence &Remembering

 Absence &Remembering

Retreating to the darkest chambers
of my mind,
I see lips slowly slipping
into a smile,
so warm and familiar in contrast
to the coolness
of a memory.

Hands exposed to my mind’s eye,
gently brushing fingertips,
weathered and with a history of touch
unforgettable
in my mind.

Whispers – soft, sensual. Breath
warm and familiar
in my ear, on my neck. Endless
successions of passionate-nothings
breathed in secrecy,
inflaming my body, racing
my heart.

Intimate moments,
frozen in time,
confined and revisited in my mind
as I remember, in his absence,
and wait to be reunited.
