Blue vs. Gray

 Blue vs. Gray
Piles of gray clouds cannot hide the streak of blue
I can see from my office window.

I turn my chair around to follow blue’s progress.
A promise of sunshine is more distracting than a glare.

I see a civil war has begun in the sky.
I silently cheer for blue, and think of you.

I know how much you love a good fight.

Gray forces sweep over blue in a bloodless battle.
Blue holds the line through the afternoon blitz,
but succumbs to the final crushing blow of gray’s armada…
 Dusk.
